Excellent guide. Had my machine up and running in minutes.
It is a SNK Guerilla War machine I picked up for $150.. Installed the J-pac and used Quickres and Soft15k and all went well.. Only I have one small problem.. I have a slight vertical wiggle/flicker.. I cleaned and adjusted all pots and got the picture damn near perfect and clear.. Only I still have this wiggle/flicker.. I tried changing resolution and the flicker/wiggle went away, But the resolution was too large for the screen so everything was enormous and cut off... Any Ideas?? I'm Using . WinXp Mame 118. (Due to this processor being slow. waiting on parts for my newer faster CPU) Mala 1.73 J-pac Quickres Soft15k Jaton Nvidia 3dforce video |

I understand you may get some flicker displaying windows desktop at 640x480 on a 15k monitor- this is normal to see a little shimmering.. But, when you load up a mame game, how does it look then? Should be spot on old skool perfect?

the flicker/wiggle is less, but still there.. not as noticeable on games like Galaga, but you can see it on any Pacman or board layout type game..
I am also wondering how I can adjust the height of the Image.. when centered I lose part of the bottom where your extra lives are and just a tad off the top where the scores are..

there is likely an adjustment pot on your chassis for that, but you'll need to head over to the tech forum to discuss your monitor problem, personally i cannot help- i know just enough about monitors to leave them alone. .. another few posts and your into the tech forum..
best of luck..

A solid state HD would give you a marginal quicker boot time.

More than usefull! ![]() Now I'm at the stage where I can hook the PC up to my cab. I have a lot of mame roms from about 5-6 years ago and wondered if they will work with win7 64. Do I need updated roms or any other update file? Also is it possible to get Neo Geo roms working on mame?

neogeo roms work on mame provided you have the neogeo bios file (keep it in the mame roms folder)..

Hi
I got my Jpac in the post this morning so am hoping to play with it tonight. When I purchased it I was expecting it to have usb inputs but its vga and 2 ps2 connections. I understand the vga goes from my pc to vga on jpac but it also came with a normal ps2 to usb cable so do I assume that the usb cable goes in any pc usb slot and then in the ps2 connnection on the jpac and the other ps2 connection is for a ps2 keyboard? if thats right I have to go and buy a ps2 keyboard, I didnt even know they were still used! Also does it matter which cable goes in which ps2 connection? thanks again in advance. Colin. |

One is for power, the other is so you can plug in a keyboard as well for setting things up. You don't need the keyboard when you're finished. I'm pretty sure they're labled. I can't check mine as I'm at work.
I'm guessing that the USB to PS2 cable is for the power from USB on your PC to the PS2 on the J-PAC. Remember to disconnect the cabinet power supply to the harness. If your monitor uses a Isolation transformer, you'll need to leave that connected. You could always go back to Andy at Ultimarc with questions concerning connecting the J-PAC, he's very helpful and usually quite quick at responding. Andy |
