I know i semi started one before, it got a bit messy though. I was going to make the first few posts of this thread only for reviews of the boards then just general banter after that.
Makes it easier to find the info rather than going through pages of info Smile.
 
Neo Geo
There's probably only going to be 2 kinds your going to go for, the 150/161-1 or the super 138-1.
 
150/161-1
 
Pro's
Cheaper than the 138-1
No pass through board
Sexy yellow carts LOL
Original hardware(kinda) so games are pretty much spot on
 
Con's
Too many KoF games/hacks
Maybe not for the purists
 
Conclusion
I never had any issues with all the ones i bought, now i didnt sit down and play everygame to completion so there *may be* the occasional glitch here and there. General thoughts, you can't really complain with most of the Neo multi carts, the price of most of them drops buy the day and for roughly 40p a game are pretty good value for money.

Better games selection than the 161/1 ( this is in my opinion, there's not a huge amount of difference but it has Twinkle Star Sprites and other top neo games)

More expensive than the other type
Not as easy to get a hold of
The OSD board may not be to everyones liking
Take's a couple of second to load
 
Conclusion
There really isnt too much between the boards you paying less than 50p a game so you can't complain, i personally have the 138-1 due to game choice but everyones different.

CPS 1 Multi board
CPS1 14-1
 
Picked it up from jammaboards, fast delivery and well packed.
Pros:
 
14 great games(13 i think as streetsmart seems to be a hack of final fight), that work flawlessly(from what i've tested)
Easy to navigate between the games
Uses the original hardware so no emulation
Cons:
 
Not alot really, the board with the OSD sub board is pretty long, just fits in my cab with the jamma loom
Requires a kick harness to play the SF2 games properly, which is supplied
Overall
Top stuff, saves swapping boards and saves space Clap
May not be the cheapest but if you want them perfect....

Sound - Is pretty poor (mainly CPS games like King of Dragons and Knights of the Round. I found that if you turn the volume up more than 4 bars the sound improves and the louder the sound the clearer it is. For example Final Fight, Mega Twins and 3 Wonders all sound poor on 1-4 bars of sound but better on 5+ bars of volume Captain Commando and SF2 with volume around 9+. CPS games are generally quieter than CPS2 and Neo Geo games so i can't turn the volume up to high or i will wake the house up (not good). I have only tested the volume up to 15 out of 30 as its very very loud. In general the sound quality is pretty poor. At first i thought it was shocking. After i had a play around with it i was much happier.

Games - It has
16 CPS games + a hack of Warrior of Fate where you can change character by pushing player 1 start
28 CPS2 games and the rest are Neo Geo

Verdict -

PROS
for £47 i paid its worth it just about IMOSmile,
Plugs straight into a jamma cab no messing aboutSmile,
Games list includes some of my favourites Final Fight, G n G, Gigawing, 1944 and StriderSmile.
Most games seem to run at full speed/90% speedSmile.

CONS
No Free play optionAngry,
having to insert credits over during playAngry,
Sound isn't the best, turning it up helps Angry,

Games to forget

Forgotten World = You can not rotate weapon direction (only shot forward)AngryAngry
Zed Blade = missing background sprites (could be just my cart)AngryAngry
Strikers 1945 = runs at 30fpsAngryAngry

I have played some of these games on MAME straight after playing them on the blue elf and some on original hardware and it really is a mixed bag. If you really are not into setting up mame and don't mind games that are not quite right GET ONE. If your happy with mame stick with it. I like to have both, don't know why.

There are quite a few Blue Elfs out there and a new pink one tooLOL. This is how i found the 108 in 1 and its okThumbs Up. When i get round to doing a video i will let you know. If you careBig smile

Insert credit > pick game > game loads and adds a credit for you > at game over the game stays on (unlike 60-in-1 etc.) and you can add more credits or continue. To return to the menu hold 1p start for 5 seconds.

Edit Mode

· To enter config power on and when the 'Game Family' screen appears hold the switch in next to the dip switches. This will bring up the config menu.

· You can choose game edit from here and turn on or off games in the list, turn on freeplay, timer etc.

· If you leave edit mode on you can go back to the main game list and alter dips for each game.

· Free play is well thought out - pick your game then press 1p or 2p start to insert a coin, it's the perfect way to have freeplay set on a board like this.

Game list and performance

Run down of some games and how they hold up, marked as L.S - small amount of frameskip, M.S - moderate frameskip, H.S - Heavy frameskip, X - almost unplayable, OK - Runs fine.

There are a number of duplicates in the list, I counted 5 on a quick look (boots/different regions)

Obviously there's a lot more games in the list I didn't try, it seems that static screen games and older titles run fine others vary in quality.

There are some good titles on there that run well so certainly worth it for those, some won't be worth playing at all. Sound seems to be ok for the majority of the games which is usually an issue with these type of boards. Not a bad deal for the money, although I wish the manufacturers would just put a better processor on there so they would run everything right.

Sorted out the cps 1 &  2 links, i got them from jammaboards.com, some other place's will do them but the guy there packs them top class and knows about customs values Wink

The E2 cab cab coins up other boards fine though so i don't think it's a cab issue, anyone else want to try? LOL

My multiboards wouldn't coin up on my E2. Had to link the grounds on pin 1 & 28 I think.

Yeah worked fine after that.
It wasn't a pretty or permanent solution but I wedged a bit of cable in the back of pin 1 in the loom and then stuck the other end in the grounds at the other edge of the loom (27 or 28 or the other side) until I found the one it worked for.

I think the problem comes from the fact a lot of the multi boards aren't true jamma as they've added connections for extra buttons to 27 & e on the connector and so you have to sort the grounding out on there.
