Hi guys,
Whilst I'm busy trying to boost my post count, I thought I should bring up the National VideoGame Arcade since I couldn't find any topics on it. I'm aware there's a 5 story venue opening this month in the middle of Nottingham for exhibitions and the such like and wondered if anyone had any involvement? CP

Here's the website for the place.
http://gamecity.org You can find it at 24-32 Carlton Street, NG1 1NN. It's just down the road from the old Cascade Arcade, which is now a Sainsbury's or summat. ![]() EDIT:Made link clicky Edited by dsyde - 12 March 2015 at 2:56pm |

I like this bit:-
'Night at the Arcade Once the daytime visitors have left, everything changes. Night at the Arcade is the full National Videogame Arcade experience, with added after-dark magic.' Doesn't really state much about the arcade aspect though, be nice to see some photos of their set-up. |

That looks quality Tony!
Im hoping once it opens, it will all get updated with more photos and info, be a shame to have something so big and not really list anything useful on the website. |

They're not just an arcade, and are looking at many ways to entertain. I think it sounds great. |

The Nottingham Post have added some photos to their website.
http://www.nottinghampost.com/pictures/Videogames/pictures-26242480-detail/pictures.html 1) My inner-nerd doesn't like games displayed at the wrong aspect ratio. :( 2) Nice original Track and Field! (To be fair, that's the Post that have captioned that) :)

Actually looks really disappointing if I'm honest, I expected at least a little area dedicated to arcade gaming and not just a few randomly placed cabs, would have been nice to have had an original dk too.

There you go! That's what an arcade looks like when it's set up using public money. It could be behind the iron curtain.

looks terrible tbh, but early days, and to me a case of too much room and too much random unfocussed crap everywhere, dont know whose running it but it seems pretty simple to me, an early computer room,8 bit era, 16 bit wars an arcade section, modern gaming, next gen gaming, game genres. memorabilia, all of these things could have their own dedicated rooms documenting the history of gaming from square one to the modern day going throughout the building.. Seems like common sense to me and there is enough info on the internet to fill all of this with facts!
Hopefully it will develop. |
