did/does klax have a bit of a following? I didn't know that. that game was too complicated I thought (unlike the mighty tetris!) mind you I was awful even with stuff like the rubiks cube.. I ended up simply peeling off the stickers and re-sticking them so that the cube was solved (and then I told my friends to never touch that son of a bitch again

I like it though, just thinking it's a bit tough and wondering how many people back in the day persisted with it, or instead, didn't bother with another quarter and moved onto another machine

good game this, addictive and frustrating in the right ways

im managing ok with a joystick and 3 buttons

for crt tv/monitor users, I found it looks nice if you put in the mame ini folder, a text file called 'gravitar.ini' and then in there have the 2 following lines:

contrast 2.0
beam 2.0

I found this thickens up the lines nicely and makes everything easier to see (see pic below), including the bullets

anyway, best score so far from me: 12050

I had a watch on youtube of someone playing it looks good this one, I will give it a go on Monday, although not sure how it will play using my arcade stick thing I use, but I will try to map everything to the 6 buttons (or maybe using the joystick wont be so bad.. will see anyway)

Yarp, MAME doesn't render vector games so well - especially on a CRT. You can also set the contrast etc. in-game by hitting TAB->Slider Controls. Alternatively, are we allowed to play using AAE. Looks much better in that. Smile

You can put custom video settings into vector.ini in the Mame directory to improve visibility. Just doubling the contrast, by writing the line 'contrast 2.0' into the file, improves things a lot.

From tonight, 1st game in about 9 months. Seems my laptop keys may be the reason I am still 40k behind the Do's castle mame world record (but at least I am 55k ahead fo the TG arcade one) - laggy input on them.

You accepting historic scores ? 3.2 million back in 2008 on mame.

I think I bottomed out about 1.5 million using the keyboard on mame. Should be good enough till Paul Kearns hears there us a bomb jack hi score thread here.
