Yeah, I haven't found any way to set it to 3 laps either. It might be possible to hack the model 2 emulator version so that it does 3 laps, but I guess all the opposition cars would have to be replaced and the time limits changed too.

Sega Rally 2 has an game model called Special which is 3 laps per course instead of 1, but I can't find anything like that for Sega Rally..

I noticed a while back on model 2 emulator that you can have either 1 lap or 5 lap stages in the sega rally 'championship' races. They correspond to 'normal' or 'longest' in the config menu. There is also a 'long' setting, which I would have thought would be 3 laps, but it's also just 1. 

I thought it was a bug in the emulator, but now that I've got an actual sega rally twin, it seems that's just how the game is!

Has anyone managed to get 3 lap stages in championship mode, or is it really just 1 or 5?

Edit: just realised the 'long' setting changes the length of the time trial, but not championship.

The Gameboy version is okay I guess but it's a million miles away from the mightly TGM series. There are a lot more moves and tricks in the TGM games that are impossible on the Gameboy version that allow it to be played fast: pre-rotate moves, fast moving prices left and right, and from level 500 '20G' gravity kicks in where the next piece spawns on top of the stack instantly. It honestly like comparing Street Fighter 1 to Street Fighter 2, night and day in how they can be played at high level.

Also, I do like Robocop but it's more for nostalgia these days :) I used to LOVE it as a kid. Heya mate, cheers. I haven't played a lot of them since I made the replays to be honest. Games like vigilante, midnight wanderers, Toki, Robocop I doubt I'll ever play them again, I find them kinda boring. On the other hand Gradius, Rtype, Hyper Duel I could play for years to come and still find new ways to play and improve. If I had to just choose 2 favs they would have to be Final Fight and Tetris: The Grandmaster. Final Fight has a good dose of randomness which keeps me on my toes every game, expect the unexpected! I just love the whole feel and difficulty.

The hardest game to learn from that list would have to go be my Tetris:The grandmaster Gm rank replay. The TGM series takes Tetris to the next level of difficulty and requires you to play as fast as possible, it's soooo brutal. On average it takes a new player about a year of daily play just to get to level 999 and meet the Gm rank requirements, then you can spend the next 10years improving your Gm time, the scope for improvement is almost limitless. A true Masterpiece.
