I got round to playing the wonder boy monster land pcb I got moons ago, just back from being repaired with a new PAL chip and other gfx issues fixed.

WOW.. Very impressed! Being a 1cc record holder at playing a straight game, I had only ever played this game on sega master system(!) and mame. The pcb plays better for sure! Main noteable is sound.. It is obvious that a whole background music channel is missing in mame, I can hear the sound brighter is constructed of twice as many notes and beaps on the pcb. - like hearing 2 keyboards playing instead of just one for example.

Gfx are much the same, I can see the resolution is very slightly different and there is zero screen tear. Gameplay is much the same, speed is similar. No pause button is a pain!

Looking forward to getting a new high score with a proper pcb.
My board is an english boot I suppose the non boot jap version will play even better?

By editing it to say it's a sticky, it's un-stickied itself LOL.

That keeps happening to me with the HighScore Rules Thread. It's meant to be a sticky, but I've had to make amendments and then it un-stickies itself.

Great thread idea though. They have one like it AO. It's great to just show off whatever things you've been buying.

Thumbs Up
Put that in your PCB test rig and smoke it!

I never put it in test mode, didn't know it did that... Good for a quick practice run but must make the first few levels piss easy!

Its a wall mounted, electro-mechanical roulette machine from 1955.

Insert a coin, the wheel spins up, choose which number you think it is going to land on. If you were right you get money Smile

I love these early electro-mech games

Today I received two deliveries :-)
Martin arrived with this:

Also the tiny Taito Plotting PCB arrived from Luke :-)

Cab is in decent condition, needs a clean etc. I'll be re-doing all the artwork, the CP is worn away in places so will need replacing, looks like the joysticks were relocated and green buttons put in their place?
Can't find a photo anywhere of a similar cab.
I have Sanwas and new Sanwa buttons ready to go in once I've decided what to do with the artwork and button placement.
The monitor seems good, it's a Hantarex Polo, big beast of a thing; came with manual and schematics. Have a bit of a focus issue but I've yet to look at it properly.
All the wiring is fine, coin mech and credit board working, has a nice little voltage display board inside too.
