You've got proper SNK LS-30's then? Thumbs Up I might have to see if I can find the Ikari Warriors board that i'm pretty sure i've got - not that i've got any rotary joysticks to play it with yet! LOL
Currently looking for: Ridge Racer PCB set (or Rom set), maybe a B+W game pcb of some sort :)

i might play some slap fight next time, since we've been talking about slap fight in another thread, or i could play something that's neither a shooter or vert. for a change.

you really should, you've had it for ages, but i know you'll have to face the upside down screen problem. Dead

the video went on for ages. the camera is an old DV camera so transfers are done in a real time basis. i really need to invest in a new HD cam where i can tweak the shutter speed to suit the monitor, cos the screen flicker is no good.

got these from a US company called VideoConnect, but i think they have gone out of business now. i wanted to play ikari warriors so much that i got together with a couple of mates to import a container of these cabs over... i'm glad these days it's more about gaming rather than sourcing or fixing.

Good detective work Vib. You are correct. I've moved house and got the Egret up and running again. That's not the whole list of games yet - I need to go through all the boxes to see what I've got! There is a ton of Neo stuff I really should slim down. Next I should get my kung Fu master up and running so I can beat your score

If you buy the sticks from someone make sure that they've actually been tested playing the game. I bought two SNK sticks on this forum in the summer and they were sold as working, but they don't. The seller said he'd look for more but I'm still waiting, it's a bit disappointing. Anyway, as I say, make sure they work because trying to fix them can be a nightmare.

What's wrong with your sticks, mate? I've fiddled with a few of these sticks and have found good ones and bad ones... Sometimes they can be temperamental.

One of the sticks (these are Data East sticks) does occasionally make the man rotate a little, but that's all. The other doesn't seem to do anything. I also have two SNK sticks that I bought, but I can't get them to physically rotate at all! I don't know what the hell's wrong with them.

Argh.... I wish I was at home so I can take some photos for you. The sticks that won't physically rotate, have you tried dismantling them to see what's preventing them from rotating. If you look at the stick, if I remember, there is a clip with a hole in it that the shaft goes through. This clip can be adjusted so it can be higher (and stiffer) or lower (and looser). I wonder if it's this that's the problem? Also, I think with the cable, you have to make sure the end with a marked 'R' is attached to the stick and the other end to the game for them to work.

The two styles of joysticks I have are on this page:
http://www.priglmeier.com/arcade_projects/joysticks.html

The LS-30s are the ones that rotate but don't send a signal properly, they are connected correctly.
The Data East round-top ones don't rotate at all. I was able to get the knob off but couldn't see what I should try after that. The shaft is just stuck in place and doesn't budge at all. Was this the joystick type you were referring to? Thanks!

Ah... Sorry, I have no experience with the dataeast stick, but with the ls30, the part I was referring to is item17 on the parts list. I guess you have already tried a different loom to narrow the problem down? I hate to see a broken rotary stick when it can be mended and games enjoyed. You are still based in japan aren't you? Could anyone out there help you out? Isn't gaijinpunch out there and have experience with rotaries?
