What is your favourite game and why ???? I'll start the ball rolling, my favourite game is Pleiads (Pleiades) by Tehkan (licenced by Centuri). You can view stuff about the game here : www.stickycarpet.com/pinx/pleiads.html
and why i love the game here (but you'll have to scroll down a bit i tend to waffle): www.stickycarpet.com/pinx/nostalgia.html
I expect you all to pick up on this, so get typing !!

Without a doubt Sega Rally. I spent hours playing on that instead of working when I worked at Sega World at my local bowling alley. Most people prefered Daytona but give me Rally any day. I just need to convert my Daytona DX to Rally! |

Very hard to say.... I like some Old games, and some of the new ones are good too.... Might Well Be Phoenix / Galaxians / Starwars for me, although I'm not playing many/any games at the moment.... Other contenders might be.... Battle Zone, Nemesis, Salamander, Outrun Next set down..... Gyruss, Congo Bongo, Crazy Kong, Rygar, Commando, Green Beret, Pac land ( a lot of c64 conversions ) , Speed Rumbler, Ninja Emaki and maybe Zaxxon, scramble, berzek, Asteroids, boogie wings, baraduke is cool too.... These are the games I pumped money into/was exposed to/left to play while dad was in pub / seaside student day out/ Holiday Camp etc when I was a kid...... I guess it makes sense in some sort of mad way... Games that will no doubt 'grow on me' one I fix them are Robotron and Defender ( I'm pants at both at the moment) Of the newer games, I'm taken by Outrun2 / sp, Sega Rally 1 and some of the shooters ( crisis zone , house of the dead etc), starwars trilogy, oh and bloody pacman b@stard ball ( if that counts) - Thats where my moneys gone in the last 2 years or so.... If I think of any more, I'll 'edit'... Cheers, Col |

Well you all guessed mine!! Space Harrier, this game just blew me away the first time I set eyes on it. I just had to have a go with that moving seat and amazing graphics for the time. I sucked to start with and died all the time but then I got the hang of it and started to get my moneys worth. I've spent so much money in this game on holiday and going down the coast to play. I was gutted when I could no longer find one to play so had to get my own... Regards Nick |

Quasar - First game I ever saw or played.... and one I truely mastered.
2nd would be Donkey Kong 3rd Galaxian All these games I was able to play in the local corner shop, sadly only one at time as there was only ever room for one machine and so when Quasar left (i was heart-broken), the Donkey Kong appeared.... later to be replaced by a Galaxian. So for me it Quasar are weird game that ain't everyones cup of tea. ![]() |

guess mines pacman because its so bloody adictive.also the sound sort of attracts me to the machine.next would be hunchback reason being nostalgic simple game but leaves you wondering why you didt do better?.then i guess space invaders reason pub times and putting you initials on the 9999 score.and leaving the rest of your lifes because 1 more would take you back to zero.in thoughs days people would look in awe as you clocked the cab guess it all adds up to our favorites.then theres always jumpbug ect ect ect------------------.

My dad used to have a cafe where I worked in the school holidays to earn some extra pocket money. In the back of the cafe was a little arcade (where I used to spend everything I earned! lol). It was cool when the operator came to empty the machines I used to get a couple of free credits if I was there! The machines in there were the ones that became my faves:
There was also a defender but I just didn't get long enough for my 10p! so didn't play very much. The machines were swapped in and out with others, but those above remain my faves. Edited by wor lass |

All time fav - TRON! Was often late back to school after lunch, and with an empty pockets from spending all my Dinner money on it!! I will have one, one day when i sort out my second mortgage!!! Second on the list is Star Wars (cockpit version) i can remember spending most of a day out at Blackpool either playing this or queing up for the Sega R360 at MR BEE`S (the R360 that now lives at Ordy Towers BTW!!) Third is Phoenix, because my uncle used to have a table top with Phoenix in it and i used to spend hours round at his house when i was a kid, playing it for free! Funny how things come around, the first machine i bought, when i started collecting was a Taito table top, with a Phoenix board in it, and now my uncle has bought some other machines off me for his kids!!!! Can anyone remember the "Credit Grabbers" that you could make from welding wire and were supposed to work???? JC.

Nemesis and Salamander are my all-time faves. I have spent hours in the arcade in Wakefield as a teenager hammering those games. I can still see the 30+ goliath cabinets, glorious!, shame its all fruits now. Also, fan of Jackal, Speed Rumbler, Hot Rod, Star Wars, Space Harrier and Outrun. Of course the classics hold a special place in my heart too. Phoenix, Moon Cresta, Galaxian and Defender. Even Rally X D |

Gotta be Robotron, I can remember in the local cafe we
had Space invaders, Dig Dug, Qix and Phoenix then Robotron turned up ![]() graphics, amazing sound!! phew, bye bye pocket money!! also in the arcades in Brighton they had all the big ones, Outrun, Space Harrier and the like but they were to expensive for a skint kid!! so it was all the Jamma cab faves, R-type, Jackal, Ikari Warriors, and a special mention for Hat Trick, best Ice Hockey game ever made!! |

No 1 - Gorf. The voice of Dr. Steven Hawking, a the first
ergonomic controller ever (who'd want to play with just a joystick again), a perfect balance between the familiar and the new, giving more minutes for the 10p. First honest game too - deep down, I knew they were mocking me as I played. Gorf said it like it was. No 2 - Tempest. Mmmm, colour vectors. Ohhhh, still hard. Lovely skill step feature so you can have a challenge straight away. You forget how quick vectors can move. Pity mine's so fecking tempermental. Been out of commission for 6 months now ![]() No 3 - Robotron. Ah, Defender in a room, with much more intuitive conrols. Never a dull moment. |

Don't really have a particular favourite now (although RallyX is one i
can keep on going back to over and over), but back in the day:
Crazy Kong & Mr Do! Why? Basically because they were the only ones i could actually get a good 10p's worth out of (generally, i was crap see!) :o) Then there was Tron, just because it was so freakin' awesome - and the film had just hit and had blown me away. Final worth a mention would be The Pit. Not too sure exactly why i liked this one, but i would spend ages in awe watching other people playing it so well and coping with how quickly it became REALLY fast, and liked to have a play just to try for myself! Def. worth a mention too was the Black Knight pinball. I mean, come on! This think laughed at you, challenged you, SPOKE to you. AND, you got THREE balls going all at once across TWO levels of playfield and all for your measley 10p. (Oh and i was quite good at it!). All things we take for granted in a pin these days, but ground breaking then... I'm sure there were MANY others. Living in a seaside resort there were very few that come up these days that i don't remember playing at some time or other. It was truely the best place to grow up if you ask me. When you got bored (or ran out of money) there was the sea on one side, and the woods on the other. Great way to grow up. Oh, Monaco GP (got to mention that since i now own the very cab in question). Hyperball. Space Tactics. Firefox. <SIGH!> M. |
